Have you done any wood turning before? – Well – when I was at school, I remember doing some and really enjoyed it…….. I would not mind giving it another go as it stuck in my mind with making something of beauty after just a few weeks in lessons….. at school
All those years ago – I have had a career and I am looking to broaden my ideas with a hobby to take up or have another go at this relatively simple to learn skill…… after a little guidance.
All ages and abilities catered for – although there can be exceptions (like the odd bit of wildlife in the workshop!)
A ” a present with a difference” – Enjoy a day at The Colin Norgate workshop with a turning course, with a maximum of two individuals on each course, with Colin who has over 35 years experience working with wood. Although this is a turning course, Colin’s experience is wide ranging, from timber selection and seasoning, tool selection and sharpening right through to the final finishing processes. This applies to aspects of Furniture making, his Sculptural turnings and Letter carving if you have any questions – Colin will be sure to answer them.
With Colin’s apprenticeship in furniture making in 1992 – 1997, the teaching with a maximum of two individuals on a turning course at a time is an important aspect following these principles. This is why the time the spent with each person gives the opportunity to explain in detail, processes and individual requests the course attendee may have.
The day can follow a set format or can fit the individual requirements for their course.
