Ardingly College – with The Sussex Guild

Ardingly College – is a  relatively new event organised by The Sussex Guild

This will be only just the second time this event will have taken place. This Guild  show is still finding its way?

Having taken part in this event in 2024. One will not be disappointed by its location and its wonderful spacious buildings

Depending on the Guild event layout – I will display my work on part of my new stand set up I produced in 2024 – showing a select number of my Products as well as one – off pieces including some of my lattice stools and coloured pieces.

The Location

Situated in the High Weald, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Hosting at this college The Sussex Guild makers will display their pieces in the light and airy buildings of the Chapel and the Old Dining Hall, and classrooms in its famed 19th century Gothic style red brick building.

Built in the 1800s, the College is steeped in history and set in 250 acres of beautiful West Sussex countryside. The elegant quadrangle has wonderful views to the thirty-seven arches of the renowned Ouse Valley (or Balcombe) Viaduct

Have you been to this area before?

Should you fancy a pub meal, the college is a mile away from Ardingly Village. If you’re in the area for the weekend, Wakehurst  place is also nearby; managed by Kew Gardens and home to the Millennium Seed Bank, this wild botanic garden has over 500 acres of diverse landscapes and plants from across the globe.

See you there?

I am looking forward to exhibiting at this event for the second time. In a new area and also in a building! A number of the shows I attend are held in marquees – but 2025 is looking a bit more equal in this regard?

Michelham Priory 2025 – with The Sussex Guild

Time for a revisit to Michelham Priory in 2025, the historic location in the heart of Sussex.

With no appearance since 2021?

I am looking forward to displaying my work at this Tudor / Elizabethan property with its magnificent moat.

I have shown here many times at this location before since 2008.

On display and available to purchase on the day – there will be much to choose from.

I will also bring some of my more traditional products as well as some one off pieces.

This will include – my variety of one piece boards and Pestle and Mortars  made from these majestic old Oak trees, that have grown throughout the UK for centuries.

The location

Michelham Priory is a Sussex Past property with the largest moat in England

The Tudor House, watermill and reconstructed prehistoric round houses.

There is also a children’s play area and licensed restaurant meaning there is something for everyone at Michelham Priory.

A great family day out?

The event

The exhibitors will be showing their exhibits, on display and for sale within the grounds of the Priory including the Elizabethan Barn.

On the drive way and in marquees on the lawns either side of the Barn.

With traditional being the theme – Colin will exhibit some of his distinctive lattice work made traditionally but with a contemporary twist.

Colin will also exhibit a range of his home range including the traditional utensils including Dibbers and Spurtles as well as a few individual turned pieces.

With ample parking and spaces to explore – this is an ideal place to spend the best part of a day (subject to our British weather!)

I will have a number of tickets available for this event.

Time to exhibit again

The last time I showed at Pashley Manor & Gardens was 2021. When did you last visit?

Time to exhibit at this venue again. Why not come and see my latest pieces? You never know – you may be tempted

Colin is looking forward to returning to this unique location, seeing some familiar faces and showing my latest pieces.

Additionally to the range of lattice work of the furniture and decorative coloured items on display there will also be a range of Kitchen and Garden products.

Colin will be on hand to discuss commissions you are contemplating….! Have you ever commissioned a piece? What an enjoyable process!

Pashley Manor & Gardens

The Sussex Guild show at Pashley Manor  & Gardens takes place within these beautiful settings.

Located on the Kent / East Sussex border.

The privately owned house has immaculate surrounding grounds that are open to the visiting public.

Every Bank Holiday in August, The Sussex Guild has a show with around 45 exhibitors at Pashley Manor.

The craft event is held on the lawns in front of the house.

What will you discover?

Such a great place to enjoy some of the best this country has to offer in regards to craftsmanship and the landscaped gardens.

Come and discover some of the Contemporary sculptures by many UK  leading artisans displayed within the grounds.

An impressive Tulip Festival takes place here at Pashley Manor Gardens every year in May.

One of the great delights about this location.

The home grown produce from the Kitchen Garden, which is at its most bountiful in summer is certainly a delight to taste.

Why not try the excellent Garden Room Café where you can sample these delights.  – I personally highly recommend this – having enjoyed the food for many years every time I exhibit here.

The delightful Garden Room cafe with terraces gives you a moment to reflect on your purchases?

Why don’t you bring a picnic in the car park field, overlooking the marvelous views of the front façade of the Tudor house and its surrounding rolling hills.
